University of Seoul Housing, Dorms & Korean Language Program: A Guide for Foreign Students

The University of Seoul (서울시립대학교, UOS) is the only public comprehensive university in Seoul — funded and supported by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. This keeps tuition significantly lower than comparable private universities, making it an attractive option for foreign students looking to study in Korea affordably.

Located in Dongdaemun-gu near Seoul City Wall Station (Line 1), it's well-connected to central Seoul and the eastern university corridor. This guide covers the Korean Language and Culture Program, dormitories, and off-campus housing nearby.

University of Seoul Off-Campus Housing

UOS sits in a residential area of Dongdaemun-gu, between the Cheongnyangni area to the west and quieter residential neighborhoods to the east and north.

One of Seoul's major transport hubs — KTX Cheongnyangni Station, Line 1, and Gyeongui-Jungang Line all converge here. The area has undergone significant redevelopment and has a growing commercial district with large department stores, restaurants, and a CGV cinema.
