Transit Lounge Yongsan: Where to Go the Day Before Move-In
Hey everyone! Today's post is for anyone who's ever done the math and realized: flight lands Tuesday, move-in is Wednesday. One awkward day. Two giant suitcases. Zero apartments.
That was me. And I actually got to try this out through CheckmateKorea's own event — when you sign a provisional contract (가계약) through them, they currently cover one free night at Transit Lounge Yongsan. So instead of dragging my luggage through cafés or paying for a full hotel night I'd barely use, I spent the day there — and honestly? It might be the most useful place in Seoul that nobody tells international students about.
The Situation: Homeless for Exactly One Day 😅
My move-in date was locked in — Checkmate Korea had sorted my place near Chung-Ang, contract signed, keys ready for the next morning. The only problem: I landed in Seoul a full day early, jet-lagged, gross from the flight, with luggage that weighed more than me.
A hotel felt like a waste for what I actually needed: somewhere to shower, nap, store my bags, and kill time productively. Turns out there's a place designed for exactly this.
What Is Transit Lounge Yongsan? 📍
It's a private 24-hour lounge near Yongsan Station (also close to Samgakji Station) built for the in-between moments — before a KTX ride, between flights, or in my case, before move-in day.

The Shower Room: Becoming Human Again 🚿
After 14 hours of travel, the shower room was the whole reason I came. There are two private booth-style showers, double-locked doors, and everything is already there: towels, dryer, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, even cleansing products. I didn't unpack a single thing from my suitcase.

This was the highlight. Each NAP UNIT is a private single space with a premium recliner, a personal TV with Netflix and YouTube, and free rental of noise-canceling headphones and a blackout sleep mask. Slippers, chargers, earplugs — all provided. Pull the curtain, dim the lights, and the outside world stops existing.
I "watched YouTube" for approximately four minutes before passing out. Best jet-lag nap of my life.

Once I resurrected, I moved to the open work lounge — window seats overlooking Yongsan Station, quiet enough to actually focus. There's a free coffee & tea bar with Starbucks beans and premium teas, plus ice and water. I sat there with a coffee, finalizing my move-in checklist with a train-station view. There's even a dedicated phone booth, so when my landlord called about tomorrow's key handoff, I didn't have to whisper-panic in a corner.
