🗂 How to Use Checkmate
Step 1. Explore housing options
You can search based on location, duration of stay, number of occupants, and type of room
Step 2. Request a Provisional Contract
You can request the provisional contract to secure housing before your arrival.
You need to provide your personal information and pay a portion of the deposit in this stage.
Q: What is a Provisional Contract?
A: It's a temporary contract made before the main contract to secure the housing.
You can sign it by paying a portion of the deposit upfront.
You can pay the remaining deposit when you sign the main contract before moving in.
Step 3. Real-Estate Agent confirms the provisional contract in 24 hours
The real estate agent will verify the availability of the contract and approve your request in 24 hours.
Q: Can my request for a contract be denied?
A: Yes, it can be denied in two situations.
1. When the request is not confirmed in 24 hours by the real-estate agent
2. When the housing has been already taken over by a Korean customer before your request.
If your request is denied, the full amount will be refunded to your original payment method.
According to our refund policy, you can receive a discount on the Checkmate Fee when you successfully conclude a contract after multiple denials.
Step 4. Settle the date for Main contract
Once confirmed, you'll need to finalize the main contract date, which will likely coincide with your move-in date.
Step 5. Sign a Main Contract
You will sign the contract in person before you move-in.
You need to pay the rest of the deposit to the houseowners in this stage.
